Hello everybody!

The official countdown to Teen Leadership Camp, sponsored by Polar Bears International, is in two weeks! (Read post Teen Leadership Camp: Arctic Ambassadors 2010.) I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to go immerse myself in polar bear habitat. I am eager to learn about these great white bears, and I am even more excited to come back and inspire others to make changes that can help the bears in the wild. There is so much we can do to help, and I am ready to share that information with my peers when I get back from Churchill!

There is so much going on in the world of polar bears that it is hard to keep up and stay afloat. Progress is being made with conservation, research, education, and leadership. The San Diego Zoo and its partner, Polar Bears International, have made drastic steps in the direction of leadership to try to make a difference for polar bears, their habitat, and their future.

A Quite Fall?

Only Chinook knows for sure...

Changes have begun at the San Diego Zoo’s Polar Bear Plunge. You may have noticed that Chinook has spent the last few weeks with Kalluk and Tatqiq for less periods of time. We have been watching her behavior and started to decrease her time with them as she began to show no interest in interacting with them and even began to push them away.
